How to get on the first page of google
First let me say that I have gotten websites on the first page of Google a lot of times, for my own websites and for my clients. I get asked how I did it because a lot of people want to know how to get on the first page of Google, and there is a reason for that; if you can get on the first page of Google, you are almost guaranteed to get a lot more traffic to your website and all things being equal, more traffic equals more money.
So that’s what you want, your website on the 1st page of Google. But what does Google want? And how do you get what you want by giving Google what it wants?
Google wants people to use Google as their search engine and people won’t use Google as their search engine if the sites that are on the first page aren’t what people are looking for when they do their searching. So the trick to getting your page to the top of Google is to be the best possible source for people that are looking for that thing.
Now you might be thinking, “Look, I just want to sell tires in Milwaukee. I sell tires, I’m in Milwaukee what else can I say?” Talk about the tires, give people advice about what kind of tires are best for which application or maybe the best tires at each price point. And yes, make sure you give your address as being in Milwaukee. You also want to make sure you are giving your address in a format that Google understands, because including your address not only helps your SEO, but it helps Google direct people to you when they type in something like “Tires Near Me.” Your website probably does that already, but you may need to tweaks to the copy writing because Google also cares about how long people hang around on your website, and if your content is difficult to read then people won’t hang around and Google won’t keep you on the first page.
Guaranteed Google first page coming right up! (Probably not) You might be tempted to just copy and paste the content from the website that is currently number one for that search term; and Bob’s your uncle guaranteed Google first page coming right up! Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple, Google won’t rank identical content very well because they assume you stole it, which is what you did. And you can’t just change a word here and there because Google isn’t stupid.
When you look at the other websites you may notice that some of the highest-ranking websites don’t have that much content related to the keywords. So how did they get on the first page of Google? The answer is probably back links. Back links? What the heck are Back links? Keep reading, we are heading into the weeds a bit.
There are other things Google looks at like meta-tags, title descriptions, page titles, page URLs and so on. Those things individually can have anywhere from a small to significant impact on your rankings when you get them set up right.
So that you have some decent content and the little details are cleaned up, you ask now will I get my website on the first page of Google? That’s the first step. Now you need Back Links. These are links from other websites to your website. The best way to get back links is manually which is why Google cares so much about them; they are hard to fake. And that’s good news for you. Because the longer your site is up, the more people are likely to find it and link to it. And that means it won’t be as easy for a new kid on the block to come along and replace your position on the first page of Google.
But wait, you are the new kid on the block, are you doomed to slowly painfully wait years for your ranking to improve? Nope, there is a way to get your business website on the first page of google in a few months instead of a few years, and that is by hiring someone like us to handle your back links. It’s pretty cheap too because we do it a lot so we have economies of scale.
Having said that, we pick fights we can win. We look at the keywords that make sense for your business and do the research to see if we can get your business on the first page of Google for those search terms. If we think we can do that for 10 or more of your search terms, you can hire us and we will go to work. With a little luck we will have you on the first page of Google for up to ten keywords within three months, but you will see your page rank improving for your keywords as the weeks go by and you will likely see more traffic to your website long before any or all of the ten keywords are on the first page of Google because the backlinks themselves will often drive traffic to your website.
We take care of fixing the nitty gritty details on your site that are hurting your rank, and we take care of the back links that help your rank. And if your content is an issue, we will let you know that too.
Fill out the form below and we will look at your site and do some research on your keywords. If we think we can win the fight, we will jump in the ring and start working to get your business on the first page of Google!
